Strawberry Bay Boating

Logan was up by 5:45 am and the rest of us were out of our tents by 6:15 and we were out on the water by 8 am.

all the kids wanted a turn to drive.
Derek is still wearing his hat.  He wore it all day again, until somehow it ended up in the water.

This is an infant life vest, but it is still so big on him.
Taking a nap on the boat.

We caught this crawdad on our fishing line.

 Taking turns holding it.

 Logan caught a fish!
 Haley caught a fish.

On the way back to the marina the boys decided to take a nap.

It was a really fun 2 days.

First family camping trip

We went on our first family camping trip.  Kevin had taken Isaac and Logan on a couple of Father and Sons campouts, but Haley had never been camping and I haven't been camping since we lived in Texas 8 years ago.  We went close to Strawberry Bay which meant if everything went wrong I could get in the car and go home.  On the way up we hit a big Thunder storm.  When we left the house it was in the 90s, on the drive their it dropped to 55 and I was cursing Kevin for convincing me to go.  By the time we made it to the camp spot the weather was perfect.  It was nice, cool and dry.

When I was packing Friday morning I gathered hats for everybody, and Derek wanted to know where his hat was. He kept saying "me hat".  I gave him his hat and he wore it all day long.  He kept following me around the house saying, "me ready".  He has been giving me problems about naps lately, so when he threw a fit I asked him if he wanted to go camping he said yes and I said you have to take a nap first and down he went with no problems.
Aaron was in town for the weekend and came camping with us.
Not the prettiest camping spot, but it was right next to the marina where we were renting a pontoon boat the next day.

Kevin played around with the idea of just grabbing dinner on the way up, but you can't go camping and not cook hot dogs over the fire.

 Tyler was there too.

And of course you have to have smores.

We stayed up telling ghost stories, and each kid had to tell one.  Derek even had to tell one he told a story about a hot dog that was yummy!  Isaac's was about a kid t-rex, Haley's was about Dr. Frankenstien switching peoples minds, and Logan's was about 2 parents getting lost and captured by a ghost and the 2 kids had to save them.  Aaron told one about a one eyed trout and during the middle of it Kevin made Haley jump and scream very loud.  Aaron was laughing and couldn't finish his story.

Tracy Aviary

Kevin had the whole week of the 4th off from work and we had so much fun.  We did something everyday.  Every day started with Haley and her first tennis lessons which have been fun.    We used our Seven Peaks Pass of all Passes everday, except the 4th.  Monday-Tracy Aviary,  Tuesday-Seven peaks water park, Thursday and Friday Trafalga fun center.  Thanks Grandma, for the great Christmas presents we love the passes.  On the 4th we had a family tennis game and watched fireworks while eating frosties.
Monday afternoon we went to the Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake City.  We had never been there before.  It was pretty cool.  The only unfortunate part was that it was in the high 90s while we were there.  Derek kept saying "car wate"  He knew that Kevin had left a bottle of water in the car.  The best part was after looking at birds of prey we went to another part of the park that had macaws,  Logan ran up to one and said "Look a rainbow hawk."

Just outside the Aviary they had a few carnival rides which we let the kids do.  Unfortunately Isaac was just a little too short for the swings and they wouldn't let him on.  He was standing on his toes and stretching his neck to get as tall as he could.
Haley and Logan loved the swings.

While on the carousel Isaac kept pretending he was riding a bucking bronco.  He kept riding one handed just like at the Rodeo.
After that we went to Bruges a little hole in the wall that makes the best Belgian waffles.  We had waffles with creme fresh and strawberries with a side of fries which is what Belgium is famous for.  Logan was singing to them and saying they were the best thing ever.  I think there was even some comment about marrying them.
To end the day we went up the canyon to silver lake to do some fishing and get eaten by mosquitoes.  Fortunately after the walk the place we stopped to fish didn't have many mosquitoes.

Derek is such a strange child.

It was a great start to a fun week.
