ambushed

Last night we went to Haley's baseball game. She hit the ball both times, and here she is running after her hit.

She is very excited about her hit.

After her game all the kids were very hot, it was probably the hottest day we've had so far. So on the way home the kids asked if they could have a water gun fight. We got home before Kevin did so we got the water guns ready and waited. When he got out of the car the kids got him. He ran in the house so the kids went back to their fight. While they were playing Kevin turned the sprinklers on them. As you can tell in the pictures, they didn't mind. And of course, daddy played too.

Day 13--May31 my last England Post

An old house that was turned into a Hotel Where we stayed Sunday night.

We woke up and drove into York so we could visit West Minster Abbey. The walk from our car to the abbey was beautiful. We walked through some gardens.

This is part of the old city wall. It is very interesting because in some parts the wall is part of existing buildings.

We tried to take a tour, but we could not hear the guy at all. So we ended up walking around by ourselves.

We left York, and ate a delicious Stem Ginger Cake from Betty's for breakfast. We drove to Warwick Castle. Warwick Castle was so much more commercialized than any place we'd been. They had attractions and extra things you could pay to do, like archery, or Knight School. All the rooms were done up with Wax statutes. They even had a section called weekend party where you were announced and then went through as if you were a guest. It was a very crowded place.

After the castle we went to dinner. Since the Indian food was so good the night before we decided to try some more. It also was delicious. Look how big the Naan was. That was for one person.

Then to our hotel, which was an hour from the airport. Where we cleaned out the car, repacked, i did some last minute shopping and got ready to say good bye to England.

The next day we made it to the airport without incident. We made it with no car accidents!!!. We had a great time. It was wonderful to be able to vacation with my husband and see such wonderful things. We are so greatful for our family that made this possible. We could not have done this trip with the kids. They also had a better time than they would have had in England.

Day 12 May 30

Does anyone recognize this place? Lyme Park also know as Pemberly in Pride and Prejudice where Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth) lives. We left our hotel and came here. The weather was miserabley windy and cold. The grounds here were beautiful (and yes this picture is from our camera)




It was so cold and windy I zipped the baby into my sweater.

After we left we drove to York. Where we went to the Jorvik Viking Center and walked up to Clifford's Tower.

Being Sunday, everything closed by 5, including stores. So we walked and looked around. The shops closed and the night life began. There were bouncers and night clubs everywhere. They had even turned an old church into a nightclub. Aunt Thelma recommended we eat at a Restaurant called Betty's, but when we got there the line was out the door. I did go in and buy a Stem Ginger cake that was excellent. So for dinner we randomly asked a bouncer if there was any good Indian restaurants around and he recommended one that was excellent. We then joined a Ghost Tour for about 15 minutes and then left to go to our Hotel on the outskirts of York.
