Carving Pumpkins

The weekend before Halloween was one filled with sick kids, but we still managed to carve our pumpkins.  Logan had a very bad cough with a gross nose, so Friday night when I went to bed and heard someone coughing I naturally assumed it was him.  Next thing I know it's Isaac coming down the stairs with a very croupy cough.  It was really bad.  Kevin took him outside and it didn't make any difference.  His little chest was sinking in and i knew it was bad when he couldn't even get enough breath to talk.  So to the ER he and I went.  We were there from 11-2.  He was so bad they kept him for observation.  I realized how bad it was when another mom came in with a son with croup and they gave him medicine and sent him straight home.  Saturday morning Kevin and I were still in bed and we heard the croup cough and looked up expecting to see Isaac.  Nope.  Derek!!  So I took him to Urgent care to get the medicine, so as not to have a repeat of the night before.  Sunday we carved pumpkins.  Monday I was back at the DR.'s this time with Logan to get him amoxicillian for his cough and nose.
I could tell when the medicine had finally kicked in (after 2 hrs) when he wanted to play Angry birds.

Anyways back to pumpkins.  Isaac was really into carving pumpkins this year.  He did almost everything himself.  Kevin drew the face on it, and I supervised him and helped a little, but he did most of the work.

Derek didn't want to have anything to do with the pumpkins, so he watched cartoons.

Logan picked a face that he knew he could do without any help.  We offered to help him because the teeth turned out to be much harder than we expected, but he was having nothing to do with it.  We didn't help at all.

Haley also did her witch by herself.  I think we are going to have some good pumpkin carving contests in the next several years.
Isaac picked this pumpkin because he liked the stem.

The first pumpkin I have carved by myself since we've had kids.  I'm usually helping the kids.
