National Park Vacation.

We started our vacation by driving to Torrey, Ut to visit Capitol Reef. I loved this park. It was absolutely gorgeous. We stopped for a photo op of course.

Kevin, Haley and Logan climbed out onto this rock. The kids were very proud of themselves.

Haley found herself a rock.

Some petroglyphs on the rock wall.

We stopped for a picnic of Subway sandwiches in a beautiful spot.

After our picnic we walked to a bridge and there were some deer that we got very close to. We also saw a buck, bats, and a gray fox and a lizard (which Logan found - a fact he kept pointing out all day).

After our day at the park, we took the kids swimming.

It was a great first day of our vacation.

Bridal Veil Falls

Logan, Derek Isaac and I went to Bridal Veil Falls with the Meyers, Aunt Lisa, and Jordan, and Gaston (Amanda's friend). Logan had an absolute blast. We got there and he just took off. I think he would have tried to climb all the way to the top if I hadn't stopped him.

Trying to get his head wet.

He was getting soaked so I took his shirt off so he'd be more comfortable walking back to the car. He did have trouble keeping his pants up while walking back.

Isaac found a rock and just sat there and splashed.

Happy Boy.

The walk back.

Haley's First Day of First Grade Yikes

Haley started first grade. She's not really old enough, is she. I asked Kevin if we could put her in Kindergarten for another year and he told me no. We switched Haley to a new school so she could be in the same school as the rest of our ward. (We have strange boundaries) Haley seems to like school after her first day she came home and said school is too long.

Each class has early birds and later gators. We signed Haley up for Later gators because we don't do mornings. . One morning she told me she wanted to be an early bird because they got to leave earlier. I explained to her it's because they go to school earlier. She told me "I don't understand that" (which is one of her new favorite sayings). So I told her if you were an early bird instead of me waking you up right now , you would already have to be at school. She said, so we go for the same time, some early and some late. So now she is okay with it.

She loves to buy her lunch. I always try to make her a lunch, but she thinks buying is more fun.
Her first week of school was so hectic because we had company, that it really hadn't hit me that she was gone all day, until one day at lunch, all our company was out and just Logan and I were sitting at the table eating lunch, and Logan says I bet Haley is eating lunch right now too. We also went to lunch at Chuck-a-rama and Kevin met us there and he kept looking for her.

I had told Logan that he was really going to miss Haley when she was in school because she was going to be gone all day. Well he was busy playing with cousins and came upstairs and said it's lots of fun when Haley's at school.

It's hard to see her grow up and be gone all day where I can't protect her, or make sure she's being good, or make sure everyone is treating her nice, or that she is having fun. Or in other words controlling the situation, but I know she is a good kid who always tries her best to do the right thing. She is super sweet and I know she'll do well. I love picking her up at the end of the day and see how happy she is and hear all about her day.
We love you Haley.

THe Lion King

The night before Haley started first grade, Kevin and I took her to the Broadway play The Lion King at the Capitol Theater in SLC. I was so excited to take her to her first musical.

I think she really enjoyed herself. Kevin and I did. The costumes are amazing. When we first got there Haley wanted us to sit somewhere else, I told her we couldn't, because these were our tickets (we were lucky to get tickets) and she said "you should have gotten better tickets" The capitol theater is small and all seats are good. Haley talked through the entire play. We had to keep telling her to be quiet. She wanted to know everything that was going on. It was a special night. As soon as we got to the theater she says to her daddy...."since this is a special date can I have a special drink" So of course her daddy bought her an icee on the way home.
Sorry, I just got yelled yet. It was a Slurpee not an icee. I was told not to defame the name of Slurpee, Kevin does not do Icee's. Whatever, I didn't have any. I had Del Taco!

A day with cousins

We got to have Dan, Melinda, Amanda, Lauri, Jenna, Jordan, and Lisa come visit us. The kids love having their cousins visit and they all get along so well. We had lots of fun with them here.

Derek and this cat became good buds.
Isaac hasn't been around many cats.

Thanks for the Ring Pops Aunt Melinda.

Taking a tour of BYU Campus. Getting Amanda and Jordan ready for their Freshman year.
These two always look so cute together.

Picture with Brigham Young.

Yes you are cool!

Jenna and Haley had twin babies and they carried them around everywhere. Something about Haley and sunglasses, as soon as she gets them on she starts posing with attitude.

Busy Busy Busy.

The last couple of weeks before Haley started school I tried to keep us really busy doing fun things every day. We went to the Dinosaur Museum, the aquarium, to playgrounds, just anything she wouldn't be able to do once all day school started. It was very fun and exhausting.

We also spent one day at Kangaroo Zoo. It was Isaac's first time going where he was able to play on the toys. He loved it. I showed him once how to get up one and he was gone. Afterwards we met Kevin for lunch. Another thing that Haley loves to do that she won't be able to anymore. So sad!
Jordan meeting her cousin for the first time. Jordan came to start BYU and we are so lucky to have her here!

I love these sunglasses on Haley.
We went bowling one day. The kids had a blast. After Isaac would bowl he wouldn't even watch the ball. He would just turn around, dance and then say "one more turn"
I guess she thought she would get a better view from down there.
